Canary Islands Day (IES Adeje, 30 May)

 Canary Islands Day

To celebrate the day of our community 4 ESO students spent a day out on Los Cristianos Beach. 

First, they interviewed tourists asking them questions about their knowledge about the Islands. They asked questions about which words they have learned, which food they have tried or which places they have visited. 

Second, they played beach volleyball and dove in the sea. Some time to relax and enjoy our nature is always welcome. 

Finally, we had a brunch and were ready to go back to High School. The excursion lasted the whole day and the students experienced a real learning situation with the language. 

The excursion was fun and very interesting because students could test their linguistic skills and learn. They could spot different accents and nationalities and they even recorded the interviews to analyse the answers. 

We will upload more activities that will be done to celebrate Canary Islands Day next week.

Portugal Day - June 10th - ENSINUS ETP/ INETE

June 10 th  is the official national holiday of Portugal . T his day is called ‘Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas,’ in English ‘Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities.’ The day pays tribute to Luís de Camões, who is considered as the country’s greatest national icon. He is most known for his poem, which narrates the story of Portuguese explorations in the 15th century and has since been accepted as a national poem in Portugal. However, because his birth date is uncertain, his death date, June 10, 1580, is commemorated as Portugal’s National Day.   The Carnation Revolution,  which happened in 1974, expanded   the celebrations to include the Portuguese communities , Portuguese migrants, and their descendants living all over the world. This year we prepared an exhibition which celebrates the importance of Portuguese communities and invited students who were born there to take a photo near their flag.
